Isle of Palms

Family on Isle of Palms Beach

There's a reason that so many visitors return to the Isle of Palms year after year... and it's because the island offers so much for your vacation time and money!

The Isle of Palms is different than other vacation spots because it's a residential island, where there just happens to be plenty of rental property.

If the beach is your primary purpose, you won't find a wider more beautiful beach anywhere... perfect for sunning, swimming, biking, and building castles of sand. There's also exceptional surf fishing, sailing, windsurfing, and shelling. And perhaps the most attractive aspect to it all is that our beach always has room for you to spread out and enjoy yourself without the next family spilling their beverages on your towel!

Should the sun go behind a cloud, an Isle of Palms vacation is far from over.  You'll find an entire world of additional outdoor activities. Right behind the island is the Intracoastal Waterway and convenient rental services make possible boating, crabbing, shrimping, fishing, jet skiing, wave running, and sightseeing. Isle of Palms is also home to Wild Dunes... over 1,000 acres of beauty, accommodations, and fun!

The Isle of Palms offers more than a laid-back, beach-town atmosphere; it also offers all the vacation conveniences you could possibly want! There are a number of excellent restaurants on the island and shopping and entertainment are readily available. In addition, you'll find our unique stores carry just about everything — clothing, groceries, video rentals, dry cleaning, hair styling, massages, manicures, beach gear and bike rentals...even dpizza delivery. Isle of Palms offers what you're looking for, and all just twenty minutes from the Historic District of Charleston!

Mount Pleasant

Mount Pleasant is Charleston’s link to Sullivan’s Island and Isle of Palms. Mount Pleasant is separated from Charleston by the Cooper River. For many years it was primarily populated seasonally by Charleston residents wealthy enough to afford summer homes across the river from the Charleston peninsula. The population of Mount Pleasant was centered in an area of the town now known as "The Old Village."

In 1928, a bridge from the Charleston Peninsula to Mount Pleasant was built. The two-lane Grace Memorial Bridge was opened as a toll bridge. A second and larger bridge, the Silas N. Pearman Bridge, opened in 1966. On July 16, 2005, the eight-lane Arthur Ravenel Bridge also known as the Cooper River Bridge opened for automotive traffic, replacing the two aging bridges.
